Description

The basic course

The workshop is designed as a basic course for participants with little or no previous knowledge. The course lasts 5 hours and includes two breaks. We will deal with the following topics:

Theory

  • Equipment knowledge
  • Historical
  • Drone music

Finger training

  • Scale on the chanter
  • Play together
  • Separation of tones

Practice

  • Hold air pressure on the bagpipes
  • Scale
  • First simple melody

Practice

  • Consolidate theory and practice
  • Repeat
  • Practice

Outlook

  • Voices of the bagpipes
  • Exercises for at home
  • Outlook, Q&A session, other

Instrument & Textbook

For our beginners’ seminar for fans of medieval bagpipes, you will need your own bagpipe. The German Smallpipe or a comparable bagpipe in A minor/Doric at guitar volume is ideal. If you do not have your own instrument, we will be happy to provide you with a German smallpipe for a rental fee. By the way: If you like the instrument and would like to buy it from us, we will add the rental fee to the purchase price. For the theory and the individual exercises we need the Bagpipe Primer, Part 1. You can purchase this bagpipe book in our store or at the course.

Your previous knowledge

For our beginners’ workshop for the medieval bagpipes, you don’t need any knowledge of sheet music or any other special prior knowledge. We start with the basics, which build on each other.

Date & Venue

We start on Saturday, October 1st at 10:00 am and end the workshop around 4:30 pm. The course lasts six and a half hours and includes plenty of breaks. The bagpipe course for the medieval market bag takes place in the

Parking spaces are available on the premises.

The catering

For the big lunch break, we visit a local restaurant together, where we reserve a table for ourselves. When choosing a restaurant, we make sure that vegetarian dishes are also available.
